Writers and photographers have powerful tools at their command. They can instill emotion, elicit sympathy, or even cause the masses to contemplate the path their lives may take. This gallery, containing both photography and poetry collected from the Internet, was created for the latter purpose...to make us all stop and examine our own motives, whether they be patriotic, religious, or vengeful in nature. War, even after much deliberation, is never painless, nor does it affect only those within our limited reach. There is a parallel here...in the faces on both sides of the continent, in their pain, in their anger, in their torment, in their bewilderment at what act of terror could have caused us to resort to so costly an act in the name of self-preservation and freedom. On September the 11th, we are reminded once again, that Liberty is never cheap, nor does it come without human sacrifice... |
