J's Magic is honored to present a small sampling of the work of Canadian artist, Jonathon Earl Bowser.  Born in 1962, Jonathon began drawing obsessively at the age of eight years, and graduated (on the President's Honor Roll) from the Alberta College of Art in 1984 .  His limited-edition prints and collector's plates are now represented by many galleries internationally, and his original paintings are in public and private collections across North America, Europe, and Asia - including the government collections of China and Taiwan.

Jonathon describes his unique figurative-landscape paintings as "Mythic Naturalism."  These images are an exploration of the Divinity of Beauty, and the Archetypes of Mythology - arcane, universal motifs and symbols which reflect not just the structure of human consciousness, but the cosmos itself.  His states that his "work is a quest for the ancient, unchanging, and eternal knowledge found in the poetic revelation of the sacred and sublime."  He believes that Mythology (both spiritual belief, and psychological preparation for life) must be recognized as the essential, timelessly enduring soul of our modern, hyper-dynamic, technology-driven world.  Hidden deep within all our myriad spiritual faiths is one grand and immutable biography of humanity; and therein lies both the origins and destiny of Life and Consciousness in the cosmos.

Webster Galleries Editions has published 17 very successful limited-edition lithographs of Jonathon's work.  Mythic Publishing has published the fine-art poster, "Song of the Hummingbird Muses."  His paintings of Native American Myths have been published and distributed world-wide by The Bradford Exchange - the world's largest trading center for collector's plates.  And he has just signed a new publishing contract with Eureka Publishing Inc.; collectors of Jonathon's work can look forward to at least 14 limited-edition lithographs from his "Mythic Naturalism" series of images. The first seven images will be available for purchase in March 1999!

What is "Mythic Naturalism?" you ask.  The answer to that question may well be found here, as you view, at least a part of, the inspired works of Mr. Bowser.    You may also click on the words themselves "Mythic Naturalism" to be transported to Mr. Bowser's brilliant definition of same.  Personally, I think it is best explained in the artist's own words describing his work:

"It is all about art and the spirit, and the meaningful repetition

of patterns in nature that unite the two in quest."
