There are memories

     that I keep,

           refreshing them daily

               in my mind

                    for the sake

                         of strength,

                              of tolerance,

                                 of purpose.

                                      Some...

                                          bring me more endurance

                                              than others

                                                   at their appointed time.

                                                          Some...

                                                               make me reflect on

                                                                   what my life could be,

                                                                          or should have been.

                                                                     Some...

                                                                give me pause to consider

                                                           the relevance of my existence.

                                                   Some bear me nothing more

                                              than a momentary appreciation

                                         of what is presently mine.

                                 I have learned to find my happiness

                            day to day,

                      hour to hour,

                when I must.

        I survive on these

              miniscule capsules of joy,

                     which I find to be

                            an inexhaustible coffer of bliss...
