I cannot recall the moment we met It may have been in the morning I may have been near noon Or perhaps in the afternoon No, it probably was in the evening. I do remember our first kiss In the Grand Hyatt In DC In the elevator After a most charming evening. She was married I knew And why her boundaries That night I chose to invade I cannot attest. Her Southern Rearing prevented her from giving me My proper due I suspect a part of her had no interest in proper due But even after all these years I cannot be sure Nor do I have a desire To reflect in a negative way upon her character Whether moral or spiritual So I accept without reserve The blame for tempting her so I am fortunate she forgave my violation And allowed me to stay A friend to her through these years I have tried to fill the void she left that day Without success So I must confess I have returned to the source And with her changed status and permission Earnestly desire a repeat Of the moment |
